Hello! I am Alberto, a young native and resident of this capital city: San Luis Potosí, Lawyer, who, due to my work activity, has allowed me to know various historical data of the city, together with my love for the architect and pride in the traditions of Potosí, It has given me a lot of data and stories about one of the most beautiful historic centers in Mexico, data that I want to share with you today so that your visit to San Luis Potosí is unforgettable, and you, like me, fall in love with it.
The tour begins at the place where the history of San Luis Potosí begins: Plaza de los Fundadores , where I will tell you about the history of the founding of the State, our patron saint, and the historic buildings that surround this plaza: Edificio Ipiña, Loreto Chapel and the Central Building of the University.
We will continue along Ignacio Aldama street, where you will appreciate the architecture and economic importance of the Caja Real building , and on the opposite corner you will hear the story of the birth of the Plan de San Luis , the base document that gave birth to the Mexican Revolution , well I will show you the building where the apostle of democracy Francisco I. Madero lived.
A few meters further on we will find the Temple of San Francisco , I will explain a bit of its history and some hidden information inside, to take you to the alley of the Holy Burial , where you can compare state crafts from the direct hands of their creators. At the end of this alley we will see the romantic Plaza de Aránzazu.
We will turn into Pedro Vallejo street , and we will see the different uses that the building that today houses the Legislative Power of the State has had.
A few blocks ahead, we will arrive at the garden of the San Miguelito neighborhood , one of the oldest in the capital, and I will tell you a legend of love and tragedy , which gave rise to a living tradition and heritage of humanity.
We will turn through the General Fuero alley and we will run straight into the iconic Caja del Agua , I will tell you about its use, history and importance of the walkway in which it is located, we will continue through the Colón garden , and you will see the beautiful quarry carvings of the Centenary Clock.
We will continue through the Ignacio Zaragoza walkway , and on Mariano Abasolo street , we will turn and see one of the oldest theaters in Latin America, to continue our tour in the Temple of San Agustín.
We will cross to Calle Villerías and see an overwhelming number of historic and baroque buildings:
Continuing along Manuel José Othón street, we will arrive at the Metropolitan Cathedral of San Luis Potosí , I will tell you the story of the cultural benefactor of the state: Monsignor Montes de Oca, Viceroy Félix María Calleja and his wife from Potosí: the Virreina Criolla, the Palace from the City Hall and the Government Palace , where you will hear interesting stories that occurred during the second Mexican empire, to take you back to the Plaza de los Fundadores, where we will end our tour.
In the arches in front of the Plaza de Fundadores, near Carl's Junior. I'll wear a straw hat.
