 Alfama is the oldest neighborhood in Lisbon. Alfama survived the 1755 earthquake , Fire and tsunami that destroyed over 85% of Lisbon. We start this tour in the 18,19th century Lisbon. Redesigned by Marques de Pombal.
As we keep moving up towards Alfama we can see the differences on the beautiful tiles, streets and buildings, narrow streets and historical sites. Join me on this 3 hours adventure through the historic heart of Lisbon.
* Downtown / City center

history and stories to tell. Once the home
of the Phoenicians , Visigoths , Romans
and many Jewish families. Alfama survived
the time of wars and now just want to
listen to fado.
* Saint jorge castle.
👉  Built by the moors this castle has lots of stories to tell. The first king of Portugal Dom Afonso Henriques, reconquer Lisbon
in 1147 with the help of the second
crusades and the hero Martin Moniz whomÂ
gave his life for the reconquista.
* Rossio square.
👉 this square has the beautiful waves
patten cobble stones side walk, the cobble
stines Side walks started after the 1755
earth wake and It’s known as calzadas
portuguesas.
* São Domingos church.
👉 Built in 1241 iam sure that will suprisse you soon as you walk in this church.
* Praça da Figueira
👉 from this square we have a beautiful view of the Saint Jorge castle and the statue of Dom João 1
* Rua Augusta
👉 rebuilt after the 1755 earth quake this is the most iconic street in the Baixa Pombalina ( the lower part of Lisbon )
* Arco da Rua Augusta
👉 the iconic and beautiful Arch of Augusta street.
* Praça do Comércio
👉 the biggest square in Portugal, with a beautiful view of the Arch and the statue of Dom José 1
* Igreja da Conceição a velha
👉 quick stop for a picture of the beautiful 16 th century church portal
* Casa dos Bicos
👉 A very different architecture in the middle of the city.
* Chafariz del Rey
👉 A 13 th century fountain that was rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake
* Chafariz de Dentro
👉 13th century fountain that once was inside of the cerca velha the old walls of Alfama town.
