I was born and raised in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Over the course of over 40 years, I have experienced the many changes which have occurred in my country. I grew up in Yugoslavia. I came of age during its violent dissolution during the wars of the 1990s and fought for my country. I have witnessed and felt the changes that followed the country's early years of independence. One thing that has not changed is my love for Mostar - the people, place, and culture. I channeled this love, knowledge, and experience into the development of Sheva Walking Tours. Our tours are immersive and engaging, with the goal of not just presenting our past, but explaining the present from a local perspective and with the hope of dispelling the misconceptions associated with Mostar and the greater Balkan region. Sheva Walking Tours is a small but growing team of passionate guides who are looking forward to sharing our hometown - past and present - with you. While we offer a range of private tours, our Free Walking Tour of Mostar is our most popular walking tour of Mostar. Currently, four local guides - Sevko, Haris, Mirjana, and Arnela - are leading Sheva's Free Walking Tours of Mostar with another team member working behind the scenes! We are dedicated to providing memorable and meaningful experiences that are accessible and welcome to all visitors, regardless of budget or background. Walk with us for an insiders perspective of Mostar!
Experience Mostar through the eyes of an insider who brings the city’s past to life so that you can understand its present! Sheva Walking Tours is the recipient of the Trip Advisor Travelers' Choice award for 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023!
Join Sheva Walking Tours for a Free Tour of Mostar. Sheva's Free Walking Tour of Mostar explores over 600 years of history, architecture, and culture and explains the dissolution of Yugoslavia, recent wars and current socio-political context. We include our favorite anecdotes and stories and provide you with a local’s perspective on food and entertainment that you shouldn’t miss while you are visiting Mostar!
Our guides love their hometown and we look forward to sharing it with you. Walk with us!
Our tours respond to guests' individual interests and questions about Mostar. We won't shy away from difficult questions and because we are independently operated, our tours are not scripted – our only agenda is to provide you with a balanced and compelling narrative of Mostar.
Please Note:
This tour is at minimum 2.5 hours. The crowds in Old Town as well as our willingness to answer your questions can lengthen the tour. If you prefer a shorter, lighter tour, please book The Heart of Mostar.
This tour is not recommended for children under the age of 12. The tour is at minimum 2.5 hours long. If you are traveling as a family, we recommend our shorter Free Tour, The Heart of Mostar. Alternatively, booking a private tour can allow your guide to accommodate individual needs.
Free Tours require a minimum number of walkers to operate. If that minimum is not met, a tour may be cancelled; however, a representative of Sheva Walking Tours will always be at the meeting spot if there are bookings.
In the event of heavy rain or other adverse weather conditions, we reserve the right to cancel a tour. This is due to safety concerns - cobblestones can be very slippery!
Arrive on time to the tour! This is a group tour. Be considerate of other participants and the guide.
We require a valid phone number to verify your reservation. Providing a fake phone number may result in the cancellation of your booking!
If you are uncertain of the exact day of your visit to Mostar, please only make only one reservation rather than booking multiple tours over multiple days.
We meet in the open space in front of the Turkish Hamam Museum in Old Town - just a two minute walk to the Old Bridge. Your guide will be wearing a Sheva Walking Tours t-shirt or item with the Sheva Walking Tours logo and be wearing a guide badge.
Our first stop - the Hamam - is also our meeting point, an ideal location from which to start our 600 year journey through Mostar's history.
Upon leaving the Old Town and UNESCO World Heritage zone, we are at the half way mark of our journey together. From this point onward we will be exploring Mostar's more recent history and using the landscape on our walk to help to tell the city's story.
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
