Arkeo Tour was born from an idea of a group of youngs from Andalusia and Madrid who loved its History, culture and heritage. Our team is made up of great professionals with extensive experience in managing of tourist groups and cultural visits in different parts of Spain. Most of us have trained on the street, collaborating in different archaeological sites, art galleries and museums. We consider that our land has great heritage and cultural potential that must be valued for both residents and tourists. We do not believe that transmitting our history is bored. We want you to enjoy it. May you live the experience. And that you impregnate yourself with the vestiges of our past. Join this adventure with us!
A spectacle of light, colour and illusion will illuminate Barcelona during these Christmas holidays.
Are you going to miss it?
Come with Arkeo Tour® to enjoy this magical tour that we have prepared especially for you, where children and adults will be fascinated by the spell and magic of Christmas.
We will begin our tour at the emblematic Plaça de Catalunya, the epicentre and heart of life in Barcelona. From there we will enjoy a spectacular path of lights that will illuminate the Portal de L'Àngel to enter the Fira de Santa Llúcia, a Christmas market that, since 1786, has been a must-see meeting point between mistletoes and Nativity scenes.
The cold weather that accompanies these dates urges us to go down Petritxol Street, where it is tradition to enjoy the best hot chocolate with cream and the ideal prelude to discovering the typical dishes of the authentic Christmas menu on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Saint Sebastian. Heading towards the Town Hall, we will get lost in medieval streets exploring the mystery of its nativity, pagan rites, creeds and celebrations.
We will visit a shop dedicated to Saint Nicholas and the Nutcracker, whose interior reveals a picturesque alpine village open 365 days a year. Imagine being able to buy reindeer with red noses, tassels and decorated trees all year round. Already in the centre of Plaça de Sant Jaume and next to the Town Hall, we will see what will be an atypical historical image: the Christmas tree without its Nativity scene (to avoid crowds).
This will not prevent Caga Tiò and Caganer from bringing to our memory other characters from the Catalan festive imagination that roam around alongside virgins and donkeys. L'home dels Nassos and La Carassa - figures from history and popular tradition - will come to life on our journey.
We will continue our walk through the old town, passing through what was once the Decumanus Maximus of Roman Barcino. There, between the apse of the Barcelona Cathedral and the Plaça del Rei, is the Frederic Marès Museum of Medieval Sacred Art. Here we will see the Nativity scene made by the Catalan Federation of Nativity Scene Makers, which spends six months carefully and patiently creating the pieces and scene.
Filled with lights, Christmas carols and escudella d'olla, we will free ourselves from our Christmas spirit to retrace our steps along Via Layetana, the path that the Three Wise Men will take on January 5th in their traditional and eagerly awaited procession amidst sweets, coals and roscones. Don't miss it, reserve your place now!
This activity is only open to groups of up to 6 people. If you are 7 or more people, you will be asked to pay per person in advance to join the tour.
