Hello my name is Luis. I am from Nicaragua, but due to life circumstances I came to Belgium in 2012. I live in Antwerp where I do this delicious and interesting Chocolate Walk. I must say that my experience as a tour guide in Nicaragua influenced my decision to continue doing this job that I do in parallel to my work in the kitchen. To tell the truth, I am pleased to be able to continue doing so, because I love interacting with visitors and making them feel at home. In advance, thank you for your interest and I hope to see you soon, walking with me through the streets of this charming city where we tasted "la crem de la crem" of Belgian chocolate :-)
Chocolate!!! “It's the most popular food in the world, that nobody knows about it,” said one of those researchers about the “Nectar of the Goddess.”
This tour is about walking around Antwerp city center and tasting chocolate along the way.
We start at the Grote Markt where we will learn
about Brabo's legend and some of the story surrounding that magnificent plain, after which we walk down to the first shop in order to taste “De Handjes van Antwerpen”. These hand-shpaed delicious pralines are filled up with marzipan and Elixir d'Anvers. We certainly get to learn more about it: the history and stories behind it.
Next, we go back to the streets in order to discover more of the charms of this beautiful city. Then, we walk in to the next store where we will taste the best pure chocolate made by Top World Master Chocolatier whose story will make you not only wishing to taste his jaw dropping marvels, but also to develop more awareness on this “delicious business” that generates billions to Belgian economy.
Back to the street, we make our way to Chocolate Line where another Top Master Belgian Chocolatier whose expertise as chef cook to create these exotic pearls, tastefull pralines, that will definitely challenge your palate. And last, but not least, to finish the Experience, you'll taste chocolate powder in a way
you most likely haven't experienced yet. Are you ready?
Optional: One last stop would be the Quetzal Chocolate bar where guests would have a great experience as they serve the best hot chocolate in town. In the meantime, we will discuss aspects of the history of chocolate and the processes it goes through before it melts down in your palate. We learn
also how my ancestors made it as we use the tools the Aztecs, Mayan, Toltecs and Olmecs used to prepare such a delicatessen. You're also invited to crush your own
cocoa beans!
