Tour description

FreeRomefoodtour is proud to present the only "pay-what-you-wish"  food tours of Rome. You’ve done your research and you know that food tours cost Euros 60 and upwards. If you are looking for a food tour that leaves your stomach full but your wallet empty, then FreeRomeFoodTour may not be for you. If you are looking for a fun, filling, and affordable way to take a bite of the Eternal City, come to join us.
The heart of the most characteristic and popular district of Rome 2-hour tour to taste the "soul" of Rome and be a 100% true Roman for a day.
If you don’t have any familiarity with this district, it is easy to get lost or to fall into low-quality food: this is why having an expert guide with you may help you focus on the best places to spend an unforgettable time!

The tour includes several different food tastings! Taste one of the best pizzas in town, and savor the greatest salumi and porchetta, and cheese like Pecorino Romano.
Also as part of the tour, you will try local Roman pastries from a local family bakery from 1940, all that will be accompanied by the music of one of the street performers, which make this area one-of-a-kind.
While you walk from one food stop to another, you will be shown the best highlights of this unique place. This area is known for its history and atmosphere: Piazza San Cosimato and its local market, which winds along the countless alleys, the Basilica of Santa Maria, and the Tiber Island, one of the tiniest islands in the world, whose origins, related to the most ancient legends, are still a mystery.
At the end of the tour, you will enjoy an artisanal “Grattachecca” in one of the oldest kiosks in town where ingredients are 100% natural. Alla Fonte d'oro, has been in the historical neighborhood of Trastevere since 1913.

For five generations it has been offering its customers the taste of the real grattachecca on the Lungotevere Raffaele Sanzio.
