Hello everyone! I'm Rubén, official tour guide and guru of Madrid;), I'm 28 years old, I like to be called Rubens, I consider myself a "cat" (native of Madrid). I also collaborate with friends and family who help me on a timely basis with reservations. I have a degree in tourism and halfway through my history degree and at the moment I'm self-employed. I started to fall in love with the profession in 2019 thanks, in part, to my friend Aurora, but from 2020 onwards I worked with arkeotour which is a company that also helped me a lot, and then in 2021 I started doing the tours on my own and trying. You must keep in mind that Madzguía has only been active for a short time and many times the minimum number of necessary attendees is not reached, starting, as you well know, is not easy at all. I'm a fun guy, I consider myself close to people and I love exchanging opinions with travelers, since they can bring you experiences without having traveled outside of Madrid. I have travelled a bit around Europe and that has helped me to love this job, because in every corner there is always a story to tell and I think Madrid is a perfect city to teach all kinds of tours. It is a city full of life where everyone feels at home, for me it is one of the best cities in Spain and one of the best in the world. I have experience as a local guide, but I am very passionate about my job and I like to teach and explain events, for me it is the ideal job. That is why I think being able to work in my own city doing something I like as a local guide is a privilege.
Thanks to its more than 19,000 trees, the El Retiro park is an important refuge for biodiversity. According to data from eBird, more than 150 different species of birds have been mentioned in this space, which represents almost 50% of the
bird species cited in our community so far. During this tour we will learn to differentiate some of the most common birds in urban parks and gardens thanks to their song, silhouette and/or plumage. Given the random nature of their presence, the specific observation of less common species is not guaranteed, and the observation of magpies, rock doves, house sparrows, common blackbirds and mallards, among others, is guaranteed.
Note: it is recommended to bring binoculars to carry out the route. Although it is not essential, it is also advisable to take a bird guide from Spain or Madrid.
