With this tour we are going to help you discover an area of the city of Girona that no one else has visited Free tours in Girona: The upper area of the city and its walls!
We start this fantastic walk from Plaça Sant Feliu, our starting point at the indicated time.
First of all, we will enter the old town to visit the monastery of San Pedro de Galligans , an old Benedictine abbey that is a jewel of Catalan Romanesque . We will cross the Galligans River to discover the Arab Baths , the prelude to the Archaeological Walk , where we will find beautiful terraced gardens that extend over the Carolingian wall .
We will follow the Gironella Tower , where we will access the upper part of the murals. Once again, we will travel for a while and enjoy privileged views of the city .
To continue we will look at the mural and we will look at the Cuartel de los Alemanes and the Jardines de la Francesa , where the Charlemagne Tower is located, the only one that stood at the foot of the Gerona Cathedral when it was Romanesque.
In addition, the free tour will take us through the convent of Sant Domenec and the Las Águilas building , which was the first headquarters of the University of Gerona . To finish, we will descend through the Pujada de Sant Domenec to reach Plaça de l'Oli and Rambla de la Llibertat , the heart of the ancient city where we will end our tour.
Plaça Sant Feliu, next to "The River Cafe" and the stairs of the Basilica.
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
